La Sexta loses rights to show Formula One

TV channel La Sexta has lost the right to show Formula One in Spain after ‘not being able to meet the payments’. It’s reported that La Sexta has not paid the 45 million which it should have this year. The situation is further complicated by the fact that La Sexta faces a merger with Antena 3. It there is a bidder, the name of the channel which will show the sport in Spain will be known on February 6. Mediapro which owns the rights has organised an auction in which all the TV channels will be able to bid for the 2012/13 season.
